Foundation For Better Government,

OPEN LETTER

January 20, 2017.
President Donald J. Trump,
The White House,
1600-Pennsylvania Ave.,
Washington, D.C.

Dear Mr. President Trump:

Congratulations on your miraculous victory.

This nation is a God’s gift for the gifted people to help humanity.  Your victory seems like God’s plan to save the nation from the disaster of the two-party system dividing the nation.

Each party, when it comes to power, promotes its own agenda at the cost of national interest and tries to undo what the other party did when that was in power.

That is not what the Founders had in mind when they designed the government.  However, President George Washington, in his farewell address, did warn against the dangers of the party system.

Our government has been gradually becoming dysfunctional and dividing the nation.

To reverse this trend, some bold steps are warranted:
1.    Adopt national goals; (a) Internal Affairs, and, (b) Foreign Affairs.
Each party may then be required to compete in pursuit of the adopted common goals rather fight each other with their conflicting party agendas.

2.    Adopt constitutional amendments to restructure the dysfunctional parts of the government (Congress) and streamline the governmental operations to facilitate, on priority basis, the pursuit of plans, policies, and programs supportive of the adopted goals.

No political ideology has a permanent shelf life.  The US Constitution needs a serious review in light of the current political problems.  Abraham Lincoln, under stressful time, indicated that saving the country was more important than saving the constitution under the force of circumstances.

Sir, your task ahead seems far bigger than the recent election that you won.  That is why; you have been elected to undertake it.  Wishing you the best of success in your endeavor.

Sincerely,

T.S. Khanna,
January 20, 2017.
