3. POLITICALLY INCORRECT; RE-INTERPRETATION OF THE CONSTITUTION By T.S. Khanna, November 15, 2017.

FOUNDATION FOR BETTER GOVERNMENT

     3.  POLITICALLY INCORRECT:  Re-interpretation of the Constitution.

NOTE:   Political correctness consists in ignoring or hiding or fabricating facts by the contesting candidates or parties to mislead voters to gain votes at the cost of doing what is right for the society.
 It hurts the society.
Another thing  that is hurting the US is the axiomatic belief that "ours is the best form of government", implying that there is no room for improvement.  Going counter to this belief is also politically incorrect.
Our progress in political institutions has not kept pace with the progress in technology.  From technical perspective, we have a solution to every problem; from political perspective, we have a problem to every solution.  To keep standing on the shoulders of the Founders is to avoid the responsibility of building our own shoulders.
In the Politically Incorrect series of short articles on various aspects of the US government, we have set aside the political correctness.  Here, the purpose is to invite attention of the learned people to identify and shore up the shortcomings in the government.

At any point in time, human knowledge is based on certain assumptions. The untested assumptions at the time are regarded to be true and factual with such strong convictions that they hardly bear the character of assumptions.

As the human knowledge advances and those assumptions are proven wrong, there is a lag in human mind in accepting the new reality.  The lag is further prolonged by the vested interests well served by the belief systems based on the assumptions under assault.

In religions, the concepts of heretic and of blasphemy are used as a shield to protect the old dogmas.

In American democracy, the most abused concepts are of freedom and of equality.  The best way to protect freedom and equality is to restrict their abuse.

During the last few decades, human knowledge has been advancing rapidly; yesterday's knowledge is today's ignorance.  When our knowledge is not in order, the more of its insistent use creates more confusion and damage to the society.   Advancing knowledge places a constant pressure to dislocate the old anchor-values.  We can no longer hold on to the old anchor-values and face the new challenges successfully.  We can no longer continue to consult our ideals and ignore our experiences.  It is a compelling time for us to rethink, re-examine, rediscover, and replant American anchor-values with restriction on their abuse.

In the struggle for power by the diverse interests, the U.S. Constitution is misinterpreted by various self-serving interests.  The values emphasized by human rights, various religions, and the Constitution need to be brought in confrontation to establish an epoch-initiating interpretation  of the Constitution.

To protect the public interest and stability, authoritative reinterpretation of the Constitution must now respond to the vigorously rising and conflicting forces.  Here this Foundation urges the Supreme Court to define the spectrum and the limits of the controversial items in the Constitution.  Special attention is invited to 1st, 2nd, and 14th Amendments.
