Constitutional Freedom and Morality
By T.S.Khanna, February 17, 2013.

Just as absolute power corrupts absolutely, absolute freedom creates a social disorder absolutely.  Freedom without limits, accountability, and attendant obligations, creates a social disorder that keeps growing as the inherited force of tradition keeps fading away with time. There comes a point when people start taking liberties that damage the very framework of morality that provided liberties in the first place.

In the US, constitutional powers are divided too thin for any person or organization to protect any set of values.  This setting is now providing hey days for the deviates professing the doctrine of moral relativism equating the best of human culture with the worst of human nature.  The constitution that guaranteed freedom with a vision of only high moral road is now under unbearable strain.

In human beings, sex is the strongest drive.  Actualization of sex drive with well designed controls and sublimation techniques, created a culture that set sets human beings apart from animals.  Cultural restraints on sexual behavior created a civilized society.  It takes several generations to build a refined culture and only one or two generations to destroy it.

Constitutional freedom now being applied to sexual behavior, is gathering momentum to destroy the American civilization.  Some of the best educational institutions are gearing into sexual overdrive.

The case in point is the well reputed Yale.  A recent graduate, Nathan Harden, in his book, “Sex and God at Yale” writes that the Yale administrators/professors, who came of age during the sexual revolution, are now legitimizing and indoctrinating students into a culture of promiscuity in the name of moral relativism under constitutional freedom.

According to Harden, the Yale campus sex week (a part of the official curriculum) , is a festival of sleaze, porn, and debauchery, dressed up as sex education.  The events of sex week include
  • Screening hard core porn;
  • Marketing of sex toys and porn production companys;
  • Porn star stripped to bare breasts, attached pinching and binding devices to herself, as a lesson in sadomasochism;
  • Female students competing in a porn star look alike contest judged by male porn producers;
  • A porn film showing a woman bound and beaten. Shown in the context of instruction on how students might engage in relationship of their own.

While depriving the life of its dignity, refinement, sophistication, and sanctity in human relationships, this degraded sensualism, defying the cultural restraints, is being justified and legitimized on the basis of moral relativism.  Constitutional equality is claimed for all types of moral practices.

Harvard, as well as the Universities of Illinois and Wisconsin have already become the copy cats of Yale.

The constitution allows no opposition to such an assault on American civilization.  The very constitution that has been the strength of American society is now becoming the cause of its destruction.  The enigma is rooted in the well defined Bill of Rights without defining the limits, accountability, and attendant obligations.

It is an indication that no political idea or constitution can have a permanent shelf life.

Constitutional amendments are essential, but given the amendment process in place and the existing diversity, the necessary amendments may not be possible.

Each generation enjoys or suffers the doings of the preceding generations. The custodians of great American heritage, culture, and civilization must act instead of watching the destruction helplessly.
