FOUNDATION FOR BETTER GOVERNMENT

THE IMPOTENCE OF THE U.S. GOVERNMENT.
BY T.S. KHANNA, JULY 4, 2018.

July 4th is the day for all U.S. citizens to express their gratitude to the Founding Fathers of this great Nation.  Through the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, they created a new human culture in the U.S. that unleashed human mind and energy for innovative and productive uses for the mankind.  In that sense, the USA has been the greatest gift to humanity from God.

Scientifically and economically, the Nation achieved more in 225 years than most other nations that have struggled for many centuries.

American culture is also American exceptionalism.  It has its source in God and its basis is human freedom and equality.  Its characteristics are Bill of Rights (First ten amendments of the Constitution) namely, freedom of speech, equality under the law, equality of opportunity, rule of law, legal protection under due process of law, Right to peaceful protest to redeem grievances, representative government, checks and balances in governmental operations, and consent of the governed through election process.

Every government is the power of its people and the power over its people.  In creating a new American culture, the Founders minimized the power of the U.S. government over the U.S. citizens.

The design of less powerful government worked well till the 1960s.  Since, it has been becoming less functional and now seems a like a government of insufficient power/capability to deal with new challenges.  That is why, the U.S. Government is showing signs of impotence.  It is not able to secure even its borders.  Look at the immigration issue: since the 1970s, the Presidents and the Congress have not been able adopt adequate laws to stop illegal immigration, leave aside their enforcement.  Over fifteen million illegal immigrants have settled in the U.S. and their number is still growing.  Still no agreement in government.

"To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.  A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted".

The present form and system of government is splitting this great nation into more and more and sharper and sharper divisions.  It seems the time has come for a change.  For America to sustain its flourishing path, some changes will have to be made in the government to streamline it and empower it to meet new challenges.  From time to time, we have recommended some changes, discussed elsewhere in the blog.

For now, as an emergency, it is recommended that the Supreme Court may define the intent and parameters of the Bill of Rights as well as the attendant obligations that go with the Rights.   By abusing the Rights , the citizens and organizations are becoming ungovernable.

                                                  GOD BLESS AMERICA.
