FOUNDATION FOR BETTER GOVERNMENT
GOVERNMENT PROJECTS

Sometimes, we hear something as a joke, and years later, beyond one’s belief, it actually starts happening.
While attending a class on governmental operations, to add humor to otherwise a heavy subject, I recall the professor saying that there were six stages of government projects:
1. Starting enthusiasm, energized by election promises of public officials;
2. Disillusionment caused by the progress stalled by the opposition;
3. Turf match by the opponents to get applause from their respective supporters;
4. Blame game to pin point the guilty;
5. Punishment of the innocent: and,
6. Praise and honor for the non-participants.
On the Border Security Project, we are on the fifth stage. For each government shutdown, some 800,000 employees are punished in their innocence.
As the sixth stage approaches, let us see who gets the praise and the reward.
